What do those totals at the bottom of a 'onstat -u' represent ?
They don't seem to tie to anything!
When you do an "onstat -u", 3 totals appear at the bottom of the display.
It looks something like this:
114 active, 256 total, 207 maximum concurrent
Well - if 207 is the maximum concurrent users, what is "total" ?
And am I limited to this "maximum" ?
Here is the answer...
- active
The number of currently active userthreads.
- total
The current number of userthreads that the engine has been dynamically allocated to handle. Informix seems to allocate this in chunks of 128 users. As soon as you exceed 128, this number jumps to 256.
- maximum concurrent
The maximum number of userthreads that have been running at the same time since the last time statistics were cleared.
Other Notes:
- None of these numbers represent the maximum number of "allowed" users.
I do not believe that number exists anywhere but on your user license card.
- The NETTYPE parameter in the configuration file can be used to limit the total number of user connections configured for your system.
- There is typically one userthread per session. If a session is running with PDQPRIORITY turned on, there will be multiple userthreads for the session, all with the same session ID.
