Probably the problem is a DNS issue, or maybe a REVERSE-DNS issue.
The test for a DNS issue is to try to ping the Unix server by name from the client workstation. If you don't get an answer back immeadiately, you may have a DNS issue.
The test for a REVERSE-Name-Resolution issue, is to traceroute the IP address of the client workstation from a Unix prompt.
If the traceroute fails to display the "name" of the workstation, you may have a REVERSE-DNS Name Resolution problem.
